Henry Clay always saw his farm as a place for comfort, solace, and refreshment. Here he could contemplate the issues of the day or simply set them aside and soothe himself with the beauty and serenity of his farm. The walk around the back lawn dates to his time and was a place he liked to stroll while mulling over legislative or legal matters. The walk was maintained by his descendants as part of his legacy at Ashland. It is enjoyed today along with many others on the property by people contemplating their own issues and concerns.
